Carden Christian Academy Central
History
In June of 1999 North Swan Baptist Church, believing it to be God’s will, began a Christian School Ministry. Carden Christian Academy Central began the 1999-2000 school year with 28 students, four teachers, one extended care teacher, a kitchen manager and a secretary at 2727 N. Swan Road, Tucson, AZ.
Carden Christian Academy Central began the 2000-2001 school year with growth. We have seen the student enrollment increase to 41 with four full-time faculty members.
Our school now averages 65-75 students per year and we have grown to include 14 faculty members.
Purpose
The purpose of this independent Christian (non-denominational) school is to provide a creative, loving, academic environment for children to grow socially, emotionally, physically, academically and spiritually through individual and group learning experiences with the guidance and nurture of carefully chosen Christian teachers, and administrators under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Carden Christian Academy Central encourages students to grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, while providing the opportunity for academic excellence.
Mission
The mission of Carden Christian Academy Central is to present the whole truth, for the whole man, for the whole of life, for the glory of God in order to produce Christ-centered children with the values, knowledge and skills required to impact tomorrow’s world.
WHEN A CHILD FAILS TO LEARN,
A TEACHER FAILS TO TEACH.
Philosophy
Being non-discriminatory and Christian in nature, Carden Christian Academy provides instruction concerning God’s will for each person and teaches that all truth is of divine origin. Biblical principles permeate every field of study. The one distinguishing mark of a Christian school relates to that one unique reason for Christian education: to gain a knowledge of the world from God’s point of view (rather than man’s) through the application of Biblical presuppositions in every area of the curriculum and school activity. Knowledge to choose between good and evil, based on God’s Holy Word, is imparted to each child.
Program of Studies
The curriculum of Carden Christian Academy Central meets or exceeds state curriculum standards. We are approved by The Mae Carden Foundation based in Brookfield, Connecticut and use the complete Carden Curriculum.
The program of the school is most rigorous. The reading program is phonics intensive and the grammar and writing skills programs are excellent. The literature program is rich in Christian values and much emphasis is given to the classics. The entire language arts program is skillfully integrated to provide optimal opportunities for students to develop critical thinking skills. Bible is taught at every grade daily and chapel is scheduled weekly.
The Carden Curriculum emphasizes character training as much as learning. Mae Carden states in her book, Quality Teaching, that ninety percent of all people have not attained their inner desire, not because of I.Q., but because of lack of character training and low mental stamina. Our goal is to teach children to attain their greatest potential.
Faculty
Our faculty and staff are prayerfully chosen on the basis of their Christian commitment and their academic qualifications. All classroom teachers at C.C.A.C. are instructed in the educational philosophy and teaching techniques developed by Mae Carden. They are required to attend regularly scheduled educational programs to maintain and advance the professional quality of their Carden teaching.
Those serving the school in any capacity shall subscribe to the school’s philosophy of providing a high quality, Christian education in a Christian atmosphere.
Carden Christian Academy Central does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed or national origin.
Admission Procedures
It is the purpose of Carden Christian Academy Central to provide a quality education for children, regardless of sex, race, color, religious affiliation, national origin or social status. Individual parents will be interviewed and informed of these policies to eliminate any conflicts before enrollment.
The Administration reserves the right to place children in the class and/or grade best suited to their needs and abilities. Children with special behavior, health, or academic challenges are evaluated on an individual basis, since the school may not have the staff or facilities to meet the certain needs of these children.
Admission to Carden Christian Academy Central is obtained by written application and personal interview. The school may elect to test a prospective student prior to being admitted.
Statement of Faith
1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God (2 Timothy 3:15; 2 Peter 1:21).
2. We believe there is one God eternally existent in three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30).
3. We believe in the deity of Christ (John 10:33), His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:35), His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15; Hebrews 7:26), His miracles (John 2:11), His vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 2:9), His resurrection (John 11:25; 1 Corinthians 15:4), His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19), His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11).
4. We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature and that men are justified by faith in the shed blood of Christ and that only by God’s grace and through faith alone we are saved (John 3:16-19; John 5:24; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:8-9; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:5).
5. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation (John 5:28-29).
6. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Galatians 3:26-28).
7. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life (Romans 8:13, 1 Corinthians 3:16: 1 Corinthians 6:l9-20 Ephesians 4:30, 5:18).
